EDUCATIONAL/instructional writing

  • I’ve written educational content on a variety of topics for the MBA and MSBA degree programs at the Quantic School of Business & Technology, including courses in strategic leadership, business writing, executive presence, decision analysis, image & video analysis, data visualization, and data storytelling.

  • I also wrote an interactive high school physics course that was translated into Arabic for Syrian refugees and Jordanian youth who are without access to typical classroom instruction for a project called Miya Miya.

  • That content is not publicly available, but you can check out some design samples.

Blog Contributing

I’ve occasionally shared my story and perspective to help bridge the civil-military divide.

I’ve written about how we educate army brats, about gender and leadership, about hope and heartbreak for Ghazni, Afghanistan, about transitioning out of the army, and about why I resent my “army wife” moniker.

Newspaper/editorial Writing

I authored a column called “The Front Row” in The Savannah Morning News. In it, I featured interviews with and profiles of local public school teachers—my goal was to help elevate their perspectives and translate edu-speak for regular people.

For instance, I wrote about why we should listen to teachers. I wrote about why some teachers choose to keep teaching and why some others don’t. I profiled the happiest substitute teacher I’ve ever met and a cop-turned teacher. I wrote about how a classical education model and Montessori-style approach can work in a public school setting. I shared how one teacher looks for excellence beyond test results and featured another teacher’s argument for embracing teacher-led education reform. And I wrote about how to make a real difference for real local teachers.

Screenwriting

I write about messy women who make terrible decisions, not that I have any personal experience with that or anything. 😬 Check me out on the Black List.

I’ve done grant-writing, internal, and executive communications, too. But those samples are mostly confidential and not mine to share publicly. For more about my professional background, connect with me on Linkedin!
